Think back to your first memory. Can you remember your age? Or how you felt? The further back in your recollection you reach, the murkier memories become.

There’s a reason these earlier episodes are elusive. Let’s call this phenomenon childhood amnesia. Have you ever being lost in a conversation with your aunts, trying to recall the early experiences of you visiting the zoo when you were three years old, but you could just hardly remember it?

Yet clearly some childhood remembrances persist, and Jeffri is one of mine. Jeffri is my kindergarten schoolmate. He’s smart and talented and we played a lot. I used to literally bite him and he had his sister come to class to warn me. There’s not much I could remember during my time as a kindergarten student, but this incident is definitely one of the few that still intact my present memory.

We were quite close during kindergarten time and up until a few years we started going on our own ways after junior high. He met Tina in Melbourne during college and he was a geek as he was when I knew him. Tina had always have a thing for geek boys, they fell in love, their families fell in love with them and Jeffri becomes this romantic-geek boy that no one ever knows he could become. He would write down notes, sing a tune or two and even made scrapbook full of their photos for Tina on special occasions.

They tied their know at the beautiful historical City Hall in Medan and I just couldn’t be happier for them.
