As a wedding photographer, I’ve been lucky enough to travel together with couples to different destinations in the world. I’ve braved the coldest weather, greeted the early sun, trailed tricky pathways, and witnessed the majestic nature, all for the sake of a camera snap.
Weddings and couple, they come and go in our little photography service. But one thing is for sure, I know that everybody wants one thing when they engage with a wedding photographer : a great wedding photography keepsake.
And what actually make a great wedding photography keepsake? It’s not the destination, that one thing I can say for sure. You can travel to the end of the world and still produce average results, or, you can lock a couple up in a plain room and still have awe-inspiring shots.
I think to an extent, locations help in a sense that they bring a touch of adventure, the sense of wonder, and breathtaking backdrop. But it’s important not to forget that capturing the chemistry on set is the key to everything. What essential is the flowing emotions, the joy hidden in simple smiles, the electricity running between a couple’s gaze, and the eternalized moments of just pure love between the two.
For Vincent and Diana, we went all the way to Queenstown for their prewedding session. This place is magnificent in every imaginable ways. But, when I look back again on this wonderful reel, I see something even more important than that. I see Vincent and Diana, being in the moment and totally immersed in each other’s company. I see happiness, radiating all through the session and is worth reliving a thousand time over.
And personally, that matters the absolute most.
