One of the perks of being a wedding photographer is meeting with a lot of new people. But for this couple, it’s definitely something new for me.
Zhang called me out of the blue, asking if I could travel to Bali for his prewedding photoshoot. I remember being impressed by his Chinese accent, only to find out that he is indeed from China. After months of being cooped up due to the pandemic, I was eager and immediately said yes. But deep down, I was not entirely sure if it’s even a possibility with the case uncertainties and what nots. Another reason? My Mandarin sucks.
Yet days passed and more details were finalized, so off we went to meet with Zhang and Ianna. We hit it off right away. They’re the kind of couple who radiates big positive energy from miles away, so welcoming and assuring every step of the way. As for language barrier, let’s just say we got that taken care of – with lots of broken English, forced Mandarin, sign languages and tons of laughter.
It was one of the most memorable photo shoots I’ve had in a while and needless to say, I enjoyed it so much. More than anything, I needed the creative freedom to direct these lovebirds. They’re so open with ideas, easy to work with and just a total dream client. For that, I shall always look back at these results with such warm memories and thankful heart.
So enjoy these shots and hope you enjoy them as much as I do. Taken by yours truly, Vinnie.
