Last fall I had the Honour of Best Man at my Best Buddy Wilson’s Wedding. He hired Bobby so I could enjoy the day and be there for him in a different way than I am used to at a wedding. However, I was still itching to capture at least his pre-wedding and witness his loving relationship with Vina over the majestic view in Bali.
Wilson would be many different roles to his circle today. He’s a son, a younger brother, a professional colleague, a good friend to many – and perhaps to some, all of those roles put together. From all people, no one knows Wilson like I do. I’ve known Wilson most of my life – 23 years and still counting, and as you might expect that means he crops up often in my childhood memories, from getting punished for standing up on benches in elementary together, played the consoles after school – to our teens and those silly adventures in college. We both always know how our lives is actually going even though we’re apart – we just keep updating one another – from career, love life to personal matters and future plans.
This Does mean that I have many stories that I could share with you which made working out where to begin a difficult task;
I remember the days during college where Vina first showed up during my visit to Wilson’s college (We were studying our undergraduate in Taiwan, he was in Taipei, I was in Hsinchu). We all went out for food and strolled at their schools. Not long a few years after, Wilson told me he had a crush on Vina and so did she. For all the right reasons, he decided not to take any action on it. Wilson went to Shanghai to build his career and was not planning on a long distance relationship.
Years after, fate brought Wilson back to continue his career in Jakarta. He met with Vina again and things start to pick up again. They dated and Vina showed up for the first time on Wilson’s Instagram. I certainly couldn’t think a better match for my best buddy other than Vina.
I have loved watching this romance bloom. Wilson has just blossomed since Vina came into his life. Vina’s a genuine person, with no pretences, she is caring, warm hearted, bright, intelligent, and completely self-less.
When I heard they were engaged, I was overjoyed. I look so forward to the future for these two. They are a perfect match, and I know that they will remain not only lovers, but friends, for all of their life. They just seem to have that certain something about them, and I know that theirs will truly be – a match made in heaven.
